Wanted: R/WW Writers

Read/WriteWeb is looking for writers to do startup and web product reviews. Currently we are being inundated with emails from startups wanting us to profile them, but it's no longer something I can keep up with due to my R/WW Network duties (this is my way of saying sorry if I haven't responded to your email lately!).

Read/WriteWeb has two startup reviewers on board already - Phil Butler and Lachlan Hardy - and we are looking for a couple more part-time writers. There will be an incentives-based payment structure for this role. Specifically I am looking for the following qualities:

  • You are passionate about web technology and always wanting to try new web apps;
  • You are already a 'beta hound' - constantly sniffing out new startup betas, signing up for private beta email invitations, hassling startup CEOs for them to give you a peek at their stealth app, etc.
  • You must have good knowledge of HTML and good english grammar;
  • You must have a product focus, including willingness to analyze web products and compare them to similar products; we're not so much interested in the business details of a startup or gossip about it - our focus is very much on the product and its usage.

So if you're keen on writing startup reviews for Read/WriteWeb, please email me your details and some examples of your work.

This is a part-time gig, so probably suits a developer/designer/web generalist type person who is interested in doing some evening blogging. What do you get in return? As well as a bit of extra cash, you'll get the inside word on all the latest startups and the prestige of being a R/WW writer :-)

P.S. if you're a startup reading this, yes this means that Read/WriteWeb is ramping up its efforts to review your products. Right now, there aren't enough analytical, product-focused reviews being done of innovative web apps - so we're aiming to do more of that style review.

Thanks for your patience and keep sending your product news to tips@readwriteweb.com.

Update: We've had a fantastic response to this already, so just to advise that I will be reviewing all email applications over the weekend.
